I like Ham Chim Peng. But, it’s too oily. I actually told myself not to have so much of fried or oily food starting from November. I can “tahan” for not eating sometimes. Yes, sometimes. Sigh……

On Tuesday, during lunch time, I fetched my colleagues go to Batu Lanchang market once again. I have gone there for a couple of times with my ex colleagues. They were only the 2nd time. We went there becoz of the Ham Chim Peng and the Sugar Cane juice.

When we reached, the Ham Chim Peng stall was just open. The uncle was making the dough (Is it call dough??) and put inside the wok to fried them. We just sat down and have our lunch first. After the lunch, we went to the stall and start ordering.

Ham Chim Peng has 3 types: blank (nothing inside, but salty), red bean and glutinous rice (this is the first time I see this phrase. I’m not sure is it correct or not. I got it from the internet. In Mandarin, called “Nuo Mi”. Hokkien is called “Zhut Bi”). Besides these 3, normally this kind of stalls will sell the You Char Kuey and Hua Chi as well.

For me, I prefer the Ham Chim Peng with the red bean and glutinous rice. I also like Hua Chi and You Char Kuey. For You char Kuey, need to eat it with Coffee, black coffee. Yummy….. I bought 2 Ham Chim Peng (Red bean and glutinous rice) and 1 Hua Chi. You char Kuey not yet out.

I have my Hua Chi during the tea break, serve with a cup of tea. It’s really oily and I need to have tea to balance it up. Before I ate another one, I manage to take the photos using my lau yar handphone.

Overall, the Ham Chim Peng is nice. I only manage to eat the one with red bean. The one with glutinous rice, I took it home for my mum. You need to eat the Ham Chim Peng when it’s hot. It’s not that nice anymore if it becomes cold.

The Hua Chi was only so so. Other stall one will put sugar and you can feel the sweetness and crunchy when you bite on it. Too bad I didn’t take the photo. It’s already inside my stomach when I took the above photos.

If you want, you can go to Batu Lanchang market to try it out. It’s selling at RM0.70 each (Previously is only RM0.60. Price just increase recently due to the flour). The stall is closed on Sunday and Friday.
