So many people are cooking this dish since Ohbin published it, including Sock Peng, Jiin Ling and Sharon. I think of having it a try since it seems so easy. In fact, it is easy!

The ingredients include:

1 1/2 pork rib
4 teaspoon of soya sauce
3 teaspoon of sugar
2 teaspoon of rice vinegar
1 teaspoon of gourmet cooking shao hsing hua tiao chiew

This is how the name 4321 comes from.

I asked my mum to buy the pork rib for me. I don’t have the rice vinegar and gourmet cooking shao hsing hua tiao chiew. So I went Tesco to get it this morning.

Gourmet Cooking Shao Hsing Hua Tiao Chiew.

Rice Vinegar.

These are the Soya Sauce, Rice Vinegar and Hua Tiao Chiew that I used.

Pork Rib.

Mix Sauce. I put them in a bowl first.

First, my mum helped me to boil the water and pour it over the pork rib, in order to take out the so call “blood water” (Need to use your hand to squeeze the pork rib). We always do that, if not, sometimes the pork will have smell.

Next, pour the mix sauce into the pan, without adding any oil or water.

Put all the pork rib into the pan and cook it. It needs time for the pork rib to be cooked. Please be patient.

It’s almost done. You can see the mix sauce has become thicker.

Few minutes later, Tang Tang Tang Tang…… Pork Rib 4321 is done!!!

Nice looking?

I tested and it was a bit salty. I think I need to have less soya sauce next time. You can adjust the quantity of the sauce based on your personal reference. I don’t like it to be too sweet so I just add in 2 1/2 teaspoon of sugar instead of 3.

Overall, they are yummy! Of course yummy…… I’m the one who cook it!!! Wakakaka 🙂

One of the reason we went to Tuaran is to have the Tuaran Mee.

I cannot find the coffee shop that I used to eat few years back. We have no choice but to ask the people there. To my surprise, the shop owner who we asked was talking to me in Hokkien. He told us the famous coffee shop for Tuaran Mee is called Yapp Siang Restaurant and it’s only start business at 9.30am.

Luckily, the time was already 9.30am. We quickly walked towards the coffee shop since 3 of us were very hungry. We reached the coffee shop after few minutes walk.

The menu on the wall.

I ordered ice coffee for drinks.

This is the famous Tuaran Mee. Look nice? It was a bit simple, right? But, it was yummy. Yum Yum!!

For second day dinner, I went to the Fatt Kee Coffee Shop. It is located opposite Wisma Merdeka and below Ang’s Hotel. This coffee shop is recommended by Mei Wah.

The environment was OK. The time I went is still early, not that many people. But the lady boss was a bit acting. So “chuin”!!! I should have taken her photo and post it here.

Inside the Kitchen.

Pai Kut Ong (Pork Rib King).

Nice, so let you see one more time, closer view.

Fried Egg with Honey Roasted Pork (Char Siew).

Fried Sotong.

I like! Yummy!!!

Belacan Sambal with Sabah Vegetables. This is what the lady boss told us.

Sabah Vegetables. Have you eaten before? Not bad.

Suan La Tang (Sour Spicy Soup).

Happy Family! Haha, all the dishes together.

Overall, the food was good. The price was cheap too! Just that the attitude of the lady boss was not that good. My friend said he will not go again due to this.

If you happen to pass by Sungai Ara area, try to look for this coffee shop called T.Y.T. It’s located at the corner and is the same row with the Fisherman Grill. There is a chicken rice stall in the coffee shop which is very nice.

The owner of the stall starts to prepare as early as 6 something in the morning. The chicken rice is selling very fast during the lunch time. If you are late, then sorry, you need to come on the next day.

The “chai boey” soup from this chicken rice stall is damn nice! You must try it!

The price is reasonable. Go and have your lunch there one day!

This is the soup.

The lunch was just a normal one. Not really special. It’s included in the tour package, so what do you expect?

After the dinner in Kin Hu Restaurant, Suzane suggested for some drinks. We went to the dessert shop instead.

This is the dessert shop, Mei Xin.

The interior design.

We need to write our order in the list.

My friend ordered Honey Dew Sago.

Cannot see the sago? Nah, can see already, right? But this Honey Dew Sago was not that nice, because it was not cold enough!

My another friend ordered Sea Coconut with Lemon Juice. I think the lemon juice was too much, made this dessert become too sour.

This is the one I ordered and I think it was the best among these three. It’s the Hong Dou Sa Tang Yuan, or so call Red Bean Rice Balls. The rice balls are filled with black sesame and the red bean soup was just nice.

This Mei Xin Dessert House is located near the City Hall Shopping Mall. The price for the dessert is standard rate, range from RM3 to RM6.

This is the first dinner I have during my Sabah Trip. My friend Suzane fetched me there. The restaurant is located near to the Sabah T2 Terminal Airport. Why I will go to this restaurant to have dinner? This is all because of Mei Wah. Mei Wah recommended this restaurant to me. She said the Peking Duck is very nice. Since she said so, I want to give it a try.

This is the restaurant, Kin Hu Restaurant.

Peking Duck.

It’s quite dark since I didn’t turn on the flash.

Is it better with flash?

Besides the duck, we ordered another 3 dishes. This is the Hui Guo Rou. It is pork.

Seafood Tao Fu.

Vegetable.

Fried Man Tou. The Man Tou comes in 2 different type, fried and steam.

These are all the dishes we had for dinner. Each dishes come with a big portion, we cannot finish them.

How was the food? YES, they are yummy! Good recommendation from Mei Wah. She is good in introducing nice food to me. Thanks Mei Wah!!!

More food to come for my Sabah Trip.

***********************************************************************

After viewing the food, are you feeling hungry? But, you cannot go and eat yet. You have something to do over here.

Yeah, It’s contest time! This time, I want you to guess how much I pay for this dinner. The one with the nearest answer will win a Sabah gift from me. If there are more than one with the correct answer, the first one who leave the comment will get the prize.

This post will be on top of the rest until the contest ends. The due date for this contest is 3 days from now, which is on Thursday, 17 July 2008 8.30am.

Good Luck!!

I went to Home Recipe to have my lunch before the movie starts. I forgot what movie I was going to watch on that day. Anyway, it is not so important over. Food has more priority. Hehe.

The environment for Home Recipe was not bad as you can see from the below photos.

The cutlery is inside a container, neat!

Ice Green Tea that I ordered.

I ordered Satay Chicken Rice. Normal, not really special.

Soup that comes with the rice.

Since I ordered the set lunch, I have one scoop of ice cream as my dessert. I love ice cream!!!

The set lunch costs from RM7.90 onwards, if I’m not mistaken. The food was normal but the waiting time is a little bit longer. Luckily, I still manage to go into the cinema before the movie starts.

Streamyx is having the upgrade in Penang from 7th July to 14th July, according to the Streamyx support. They didn’t send out any notification. I only knew it when my streamyx is unavailable and called to their support.
