   |   Comments Off on Mee Goreng from San Francisco Banana Leave

My sister brought me to the Banana Leave Restaurant when I was in San Francisco 2 years back. One of the dish that we ordered was the Mee Goreng.

The Mee Goreng looks like the Mee Goreng that I always have in Malaysia. The taste was just great. I am not sure whether the chef is a Malaysian or not. I never ask. The restaurant is full of people. It seems like many people in San Francisco like Asian food very much.

Chicken Ban Ban is another dish that I like from Haven Delight. It is a fusion Japanese fried chicken with egg in chef’s special mayo sauce.

There are 3 different sauces used in this dish: mayo, wasabi and sweet. The mixture of the sauce made Chicken Ban Ban a delicious dish. The fried egg is relatively good.

To me, you also can try out this dish at home. What you need is the boneless chicken and the sauce. Want to give it a try? 🙂

I went for a food review last week in Haven Delight, which is located in Penang Time Square. It was the very first time I go to Penang Time Square. Luckily, the restaurant is easy to find.

One of the dishes that I like is the Homemade Spicy Chicken. The chicken is boneless and tender. The spices used are great. It is very spicy. I ate quite a number of pieces.

Can you feel the spiciness? It is a must try item.

Yummy Yummy!!!

I got the Coffee Bean voucher and it is expired soon, that is why I have the chance to get their coffee and cakes. It’s not cheap to have the coffee from Coffee Bean everyday. Each ice blended needs more than 10 dollars. Besides the coffee, I also tried out their cheesecake.

Toblerone and Coffee Cheesecake.

Coffee Cheesecake.

Toblerone Cheesecake.

Both cheesecakes are nice. Although I still prefer Secret Recipe cheesecake, the cheesecake from Coffee Bean are still up to standard. Try it out in future and you will know the difference.

We have a small party in the office the other day. This time, we asked the vendor to prepare the food for us. We no longer need to bring ourselves. We just go there and eat. Hehe.

Besides the normal food like fried bee hoon, satay, cakes, fruits, tarts and etc, we also ordered the sushi. The food seems not enough for us. We eventually went to buy add on, KFC. 🙂

We really have fun and very full on that day. The food was OK, not so bad. Overall, it was fun to have small party in the office once in a while.

My friend went to Ipoh and bought me the Lotus Meat Floss Biscuit to have a try. If you tell me Lotus Biscuit or Meat Floss Biscuit, I still know what is that. But this one is the combination of Lotus Meat Floss Biscuit. I cannot imagine how it will look like.

When I got the biscuit from my friend, if I don’t know it was the Lotus Meat Floss Biscuit, I will think it was the Tau Sar Pneah. See, it looks exactly like Tau Sar Pneah, right?

How’s the inside looks like? Here you go.

Lotus Meat Floss Biscuit is nice to be eaten. I like the Meat Floss a lot. The taste of the Meat Floss has covered the taste of the Lotus. However, I just like it. I think it should be better if the biscuit only has Meat Floss inside. 🙂

Oh, this Lotus Meat Floss Biscuit is from Ipoh. I am not sure whether Penang has it or not. If you know, please let me know.

Most of the Chinese restaurant will have this dish, Fried Tofu. It is a very simple dish, just get the tofu and fried it. Although it is a simple dish, it also depends on the chef who cook it. This one below is from a vegetarian restaurant in Singapore. My friend is the one who prepare the Fried Tofu. He is the owner for the restaurant, Waterdrop Tea House. His restaurant is located in Punggol.

The Fried Tofu was delicious. It used the Japanese Tofu instead of the normal tofu. They were equally fried and sprinkle with spices on top.

Try it if you go there in future. Tell him my name, maybe you will get a discount. Haha.

I heard the KFC Zinger Tower advertisement from My FM. From the advertisement, it stated that you can get a discount voucher for the Zinger Tower if you go to the website. I never listen properly on the website. I search high and low in the KFC website but cannot find. It was in My FM website instead. I only noticed after I listened the advertisement again.

Although I don’t have the discount voucher, I have a RM10 KFC voucher. I went to have it on that night itself with my colleague. KFC Zinger Tower consists of soft bun, fresh lettuce, cheese, Zinger fillet, hash brown and zesty chili lime sauce.

I am not sure whether is it because I went at night time, the fillet and hash brown were very oily. The taste was not bad. You can have a try if you dine in KFC next time.

If the Zinger fillet and hash brown were not that oily, it will be perfect!

Every year during Chinese New Year, I will bake the butter cookies and give some to my colleagues and friends. This has become a must do thing for me, no matter how busy I am. I learn how to bake the butter cookies from my aunt. This is the one and only pastry that I knew how to bake. Other than the butter cookies, I still need to learn.

Many of my friends tried the cookies and they said very nice. I have the same thought too. 🙂

During one of the night shift, I went to this place called Dobby Ghaut Coffee Shop to have dinner cum supper. This coffee shop is famous with its Koay Teow Thng and Curry Mee. Since it was late night, I ordered the Koay Teow Thng.

This stall has the Ho Chak logo, it means the Ho Chak team has visited them before. To me, the Koay Teow Thng is just so so. Not that special. It has the pig liver. I gave them to my friend since they are too high cholesterol. Hahaha. Bad me!!! The coffee shop is opened until 3 or 4 in the morning.

Next time when you are hungry in the middle of the night, you can try to go there and have some food.

I should have taken down the name of the stall which sells this Claypot Rice. It was not nice at all and it was not cheap. I think the rice is precook and left there for quite some time. After I made the order, the owner just grab one of them, start to put in other ingredients and start to cook again. You can imagine that the rice was hard from the bottom. The sauce was cannot blend well with the rice, make it not even.

This Claypot Rice costs me RM5! Totally not worth the price. Claypot Rice from Super Tanker or Teluk Bayan is much more better than this.

Do you know what is this by just looking at the photo? If you ask me, I totally have no idea. From the title of this post, you will know that this is the ginger, Crispy Ginger.

I have this snacks in Water Drop Teahouse during my current visit to Singapore. It is a vegetarian restaurant, running by one of my friend. I went there to try out the food and writing some review on it. The ginger was not bad. At first, when you bite on it, you will not feel anything. But just before you swallow it, you can feel the spiciness of the ginger. Try this item if you never try it.

I seldom have pork chop if I dine in the western restaurant. Normally, I will order either chicken of fish. But this time, I ordered the Hawaiian Pork Chop since chicken and fish are a little bit too boring for me. To my surprise, I made a good decision.

The Hawaiian Pork Chop from The Cartel Cafe is just fantastic. The pork is so soft. Sometimes, pork will have its smell but this Hawaiian Pork Chop has the exclusion. The special Cartel sauce blends well with the pork, make it even better. I like the pineapple too. Besides, there are vegetables and fries. Overall, this Hawaiian Pork Chop is a must try item. Two Thumbs Up!

I called this kaya kuih. I know there is a formal name for it. But I used to call it kaya kuih since I was small.

I like this kaya kuih very much. From one piece for 15 cents to 20 cents until now 40 cents, I still like it so much, especially the kaya. The kaya is the main part of this kuih. Without the kaya, the kuih will not be so good in taste. This is the perfect match.

Oh my…. I want to grab some later tonight.

Steven brought along his specialty Kimchi Fried Rice to the 3rd food blogger gathering, which was held 1 month ago. Personally, I am not a fan of kimchi. The kimchi’s smell will make me away. I tried some when I go to the Korean restaurant and I don’t really like it.

Before I go to the gathering, I told myself I must taste some of it since it was cooked by Steven. However, I never have it since I was not feeling OK after I tasted on several dishes. What a waste. From others, the fried rice was delicious.
